Esta sociedade cultural e de beneficencia foi fundada na Habana o 14 de marzo de 1926 por un grupo de emigrantes do municipio de A Peroxa, en Ourense.
Segundo o seu Regulamento, cuxa reforma foi aprobada o 17 de xullo de 1932, o seu obxectivo principal foi "fomentar la unión entre todos los naturales de ese Ayuntamiento, así como propender a realizar toda clase de actos culturales, benéficos y socorros".
